Air Conditioning Energy Assessor
What is an Air Conditioning Energy Assessor?
Air Conditioning Energy Assessors (ACEAs) carry out inspections of air conditioning systems.
The inspection will include an assessment of efficiency, a review of the system sizing, advice on improvements or replacements and potential alternative solutions.
Why are they needed?
In accordance with Article 9 of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, ACEAs are required to inspect air conditioning systems installed in existing buildings and produce an associated Inspection Report. This requirement affects all existing buildings in England & Wales.
Air conditioning systems, whether in dwellings or non-dwellings, where the total system cooling capacity is greater than 12kW will be inspected at intervals not exceeding 5 years.
How do I become an Air Conditioning Energy Assessor?
To practice as an ACEA, you will need to:
- Undertake training and assessment to achieve the ABBE Level 3 Diploma in Air Conditioning Energy Assessment
- Be accepted as a member of a Government-approved accreditation scheme
NES currently offers online training modules and a program of assessment. Details of our accreditation services will appear on the website in due course.
