Thank you to all who attended the SAVA School of Surveying Open Day last week. We were greatly encouraged by the number of people who braved the heat and the motorway traffic to attend, and the great feedback we received both during and after the event. It was fantastic to hear such excitement about the new Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation (Dip RS Val) from the attendees and also the represented firms.

The Diploma

Starting in September, the SAVA School of Surveying are offering the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation (Dip R Surv & Val).

Learners who successfully complete the new qualification will be able to practise as residential surveyors, join the SAVA Scheme and produce Home Condition Surveys.

We are working hard to raise the profile of the Home Condition Survey (HCS) and have been considering several ways to advertise the product to the public. As you may know, the ‘Find an Assessor’ function on this website is useful, but only when a member of the public knows they want a HCS.

What about those who have never heard of the HCS?

To address this problem and spread the word, we have created a new customer-facing website, aimed at members of the public who are looking for a residential survey.

Last week at the Annual RICS Residential Conference in London, Peter Bolton King, RICS Global Residential Director, announced that the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation was now available as a new route to AssocRICS.

Independent commission

Those who attended the conference had already heard Dr Oonagh McDonald CBE, Chair of the independent commission into the UK valuation profession, report on the recommendations delivered to RICS in January this year.
