Plan Assessor version 5.4.1 now available with powerful new features

The latest release of NHER Plan Assessor is the 6th major update in the 5-series, containing a valuable mix of technical improvements and usability features.  It’s now been a year since we first introduced our software tool for full SAP 2009 energy assessments.  Since then, our software development team have been working continually to add & improve functionality.  We’ve listened to our users to find the features that they would find most useful, and in fact work is already well underway for the next version.   NHER Plan Assessor is fully approved by BRE on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government.

So What’s New?

  • SAP features – Plan Assessor now offers a comprehensive set of SAP tools & features for energy assessment.   We have added flue gas heat recovery and waste water heat recovery to our Product Database.  We’ve also simplified the data entry for heat pumps and micro-CHP systems from the Product Database.   Energy Assessments for Scotland are now more flexible, with 2 primary heating systems now available and a streamlined approach to Community space heating with a mix of fuel sources.  We’ve given more flexible options for entering thermal bridging data
  • NHER 2009 assessment  – this is our own customised energy calculation that builds on the regulated emissions calculated by SAP to give a ‘whole house’ assessment.  The NHER assessment includes cooking and electrical appliances and the degree day region, displaying energy usage, fuel running costs and carbon dioxide emissions per year broken down by usage
  • New options for multiple records – using the new ‘status’ button in the Batch Manager screen you can now ‘finalise’ as many records as you choose.  This streamlined process saves time and speeds up the production of reports.    You can also create a PDF report that averages multiple dwellings together – use these to find out quickly and easily whether a group of houses collectively (a) pass the Building Regulations or (b) gain credits against the Code for Sustainable Homes.  Batch manager has other useful outputs including the key results exported to Excel spreadsheet.
  • Code for Sustainable Homes – introduced in version 5.3 in line with the current CSH Technical Guide, the results and PDF reports are available for issues Ene 1, Ene 2 and Ene 7
  • Increased design visibility – is there a house specification that will be used in identical plots on a housing development?  A new PDF report we’ve developed shows the Building Regulations metrics for a house template facing each compass point – so you can see whether the specification passes when rotated through 360°
  • Incremental improvements to the design, layout and data entry validation
  • 30-day evaluation version – we will be making Plan Assessor 5.4 available for you to try before you buy. See the main product page for more details: http://www.nesltd.co.uk/content/plan-assessor
