Good News as DEC Consultation Comes to a Close

We are pleased to announce that, following the consultation on proposals to abolish Display Energy Certificates (DECs) in 2015, DCLG has confirmed that the consultation will be taken no further and no changes will be made to the current DEC regime.

Our members may remember that, back in early 2015, we communicated details of a government proposal to remove the statutory requirement for DECs for the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). These proposals prompted a number of fierce responses from National Energy Services, other schemes and the many assessors for whom DECs provide a main source of work.

This outcome is great news for our Public Building Energy Assessors (DEC Assessors) and for the energy efficiency of our public buildings. In light of this success, we would like to thank all those who responded to the consultation.
