This monthly index, run by NES and Building.co.uk, monitors how many commercial buildings currently being marketed have a valid EPC. In February 2010, 39% of commercial properties identifiable on the government's central register were legal and compliant, whilst the remaining 61% did not have an EPC lodged.

We know that estate agents are under pressure to reduce costs, due to both the recession and the collapse in house sales.

As we explained in our introduction to the Home Energy Advisor qualification, there has not at any time so far been a clear vision on how the market for a Home Energy Advisor (HEA) will develop.

We are aware that a significant number of PP candidates financed their training and assessment with a deferred loan agreement from Barclays that was arranged by Property Professionals (PP).

Several individuals have contacted us to say that they have been notified by Barclays that they will allow the candidate to complete their qualification with another provider. This is potentially good news, but before making any decision, we would strongly recommend that candidates confirm all of their options before making any decision.

We have been very careful to give candidates advice which is both accurate and helpful in this difficult time. We have been in full consultation with ABBE, the awarding body, while communicating with candidates. We have a Centre Visit planned for this Friday to obtain further advice from ABBE.

We have been careful not to rush forward too quickly with alternative training and assessment solutions, and the ones presented to date have been done entirely as a result of feedback from candidates who have contacted us.
