Domestic Energy Assessors
Below are all the courses offered by National Energy Services that count towards a DEA's CPD requirements.
You can also see courses and modules that are appropriate for all members of the NHER Accreditation Scheme and SAVA Certification Scheme.
Some are training courses held in Milton Keynes, and some are online CPD modules that can be undertaken anywhere and at any time.

Non-Standard Construction Part 3: Good Inspection Practice
The third of a series of modules on non-standard construction.
Suitable for
Suitable for Home Inspectors, Domestic Energy Assessors and other residential surveyors.
This module focuses on good inspection practice. When you approach a property that is previously unknown to you it is important not to jump to conclusions too quickly. In this module we will examine a property that held a few surprises for the surveyor/assessor on site and give you some practical tips to help you prepare for the unexpected.
CPD Hours: 3 hours
The course costs £25+VAT for NHER/SAVA members. For non-members, it is £35+VAT.

RDSAP 9.91 Classroom Training
A one day workshop to enable all Energy Assessors to understand and correctly apply the changes to RDSAP due to be implemented in April 2012.
Suitable for
This is a one day classroom event for energy assessors and surveyors.
This one day classroom training event is designed to provide you with a full understanding of the changes to the RDSAP methodology released under version 9.91 and due to be implemented from 1st April 2012 onwards.
The training will involve 'hands on' use of the latest NES EPC software and where possible will include the use of worked examples and checks to support the learning process. The key areas to be covered are as follows:
- Overview and background to the changes
- The new data collection items
- Changes to the data collection process
- New conventions associated with these changes
- Modifications to the EPC format and content
Classroom training offers you the opportunity of direct contact with our training and technical teams at NES and is by definition a more interactive training experience. The use of a dedicated training day allows for a more detailed approach to be employed to support the full understanding of the required material.
This CPD is mandatory learning and cannot be used towards your annual CPD requirement.

Changing Behaviour in the Home to Reduce Energy Usage
An online module about gathering information from householders and providing basic energy advice.
Suitable for
Anyone interested in making recommendations for basic improvements to the energy efficiency of dwellings.
This online module gives you an overview of how to gather information from householders on occupant factors and provide basic energy advice.
You will learn how to encourage home owners to change their behavior in the home to reduce energy consumption as well as being able to provide tailored advice on subjects such as grants, impact of tenure and financial constraints.
The module also provides information on what non property specific information could be obtained such as fuel bills, meters, fuel cost calculations and methods of payment.
A separate online training module is available on basic home improvement energy advice.

Basic Home Improvement Energy Advice
An online module about providing advice for homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of their property.
Suitable for
Anyone interested in making recommendations for basic improvements to the energy efficiency of dwellings.
This online module gives you an overview of how to make recommendations for basic improvements to the energy efficiency of dwellings.
You will learn about property improvement measures including fabric, air tightness, heating, hot water and lighting as well as when specific measure should not be recommended.
By undertaking this training you will be able to provide advice on basic improvement measures in the home.
A separate online training module is available on changing behaviour in the home to reduce energy usage.

Wood Fuel Heating
An introduction to wood fuel heating.
Suitable for
Domestic Energy Assessors, Home Inspectors and On Construction DEAs.

An introduction to solar water heating.

A summary of the various types of domestic buildings from medieval times to around 1875.

Property Misdescriptions Act 1991
An overview of the 1991 Act.
