Domestic Energy Assessor Accreditation Scheme
A Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) produces Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for existing dwellings – homes being marketed for sale or rent.
All DEAs must be accredited before issuing energy certificates. To become accredited, DEAs must demonstrate evidence of their qualification and competence to meet the National Occupational Standards. They must have a valid Criminal Records Bureau check and must pass other stringent background checks to ensure their suitability for this important role.
Once accredited, DEAs are regularly audited, properly insured and their work will be subject to a robust consumer redress scheme.
Who can join the NHER accreditation scheme?
Any qualified energy assessor or home inspector. You don’t need to have trained with NES and you can switch from another accreditation scheme at any time.
