CEA Accreditation

A Commercial Energy AssessorA Commercial Energy Assessor (CEA) produces Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for commercial and industrial buildings. These 'non domestic' buildings include offices, shops, warehouses and other business premises that use energy.

All CEAs must be accredited before issuing energy certificates. To become accredited, CEAs must demonstrate evidence of their qualification and competence to meet the National Occupational Standards.

Once accredited, CEAs are regularly audited, properly insured and their work will be subject to a robust consumer redress scheme.

Who can join?

Any qualified CEA (level 3 or 4). You don’t need to have trained with NES and you can switch from another accreditation scheme at any time. CEAs are also known as Non-domestic Energy Assessors (NDEAs).

Benefits for CEAs

  • Produce Commercial Property Energy Reports
A CPER is an attractive, professional way to present the EPC, its recommendations and any supporting information to the building owner, and it is exclusive to CEAs registered with the NHER Accreditation Scheme. Read more about the CPER.
  • Comprehensive Insurance
You will receive comprehensive Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance for all existing build reports registered with the scheme – so there is no need to carry your own cover. Read a summary here. (Please note that we do not cover new build commercial buildings and you will need your own cover).
  • Easy to use EPC software
You will gain access to our easy-to-use, industry leading EPC software available 24/7 on the NES one portal. This includes SBEM online designed specifically for assessing existing non-domestic buildings. We also support IES VE SBEM software.
  • On-demand technical support
You will have access to a dedicated Technical Support team to answer your queries – whether they are about our software systems, about the SAP or RDSAP conventions, or about your business. For more details click here.

You will be supported throughout our monitoring and compliance checks, secure in the knowledge that your energy certificates and surveys are of the highest quality so people can act with confidence on the recommendations contained within them.
